David Roetzel
Originally from Akron, OH, in the summer of 1988 David moved to Boulder, CO to attend CU Boulder, study Kinesiology, and to ski in the mountains of Colorado. At least that was the plan…by the end of the summer, he had discovered rock climbing and began spending his time climbing in Eldorado Canyon and Boulder Canyon. Since then, David has been skiing and climbing nonstop and is still pushing his limits despite being in his late 50s.
A passionate educator, David began teaching introductory climbing skills in 1993 at the first Boulder Rock Club, and in the winter of 1999, he started teaching and guiding ice climbing in the Vail area. Over the years, David has compiled an East Vail resume that is unrivaled, and his knowledge of the East Vail area, both the crags and the routes, are without comparison. This year will be his 29th season climbing in Vail.
Due to his lifelong dedication to the climbing arts, David also has a deep knowledge and understanding about conditioning for any age athlete. He has created personalized training programs and has helped even the most seasoned climbers achieve their next level of climbing performance through online or in-person coaching
