Description

Our Lead Sport Climbing Course is designed to equip climbers with the essential skills and knowledge to confidently lead sport climbs. Throughout the course, participants will learn proper equipment selection and inspection, including harnesses, rope systems, quickdraws, and personal protective gear.

Instruction focuses on the correct placement of quickdraws along the route to ensure safety and efficiency. Climbers will practice maintaining secure and balanced clipping stances, enabling smooth clips while minimizing fall risks.

The course also covers the construction of solid sport climbing anchors, emphasizing redundancy and load distribution to safeguard both climber and belayer. Participants will gain hands-on experience cleaning anchors safely and effectively after completing a climb, as well as how to properly communicate with your belayer. We will also review proper lead belay techniques to avoid “shortroping” your leader and techniques for avoiding injury to your climber during falls.

By the end of the course, climbers will possess the comprehensive skills necessary to lead sport climbs safely in the outdoors.
